Why Restorative Yoga?
The beauty of the Restorative yoga practice is its all about slowing down, practicing stillness, relaxing the muscles, and finding quiet. This makes it very different than faster-paced practices that are intended to increased your heart rate, build strength, and tone the muscles.

Restorative yoga has become a critical part of studio offerings in the last 5 years. It balances out the typical class offerings focused on strength and movement. Restorative yoga works to take the body from a "fight or flight" state into the parasympathetic nervous system responsible for "rest and digest". This allows you to help slow your heart rate, normalize blood pressure, relax your digestive system, and release muscular tension.

While the help of props like blankets, bolsters, blocks, and more, being supported at all times in Restorative yoga gives your body a chance to receive the invitation into the posture. From there, the breath widens, deepens, and the mind, therefore, has an opportunity to slow down allowing you to reach a deep state of relaxation and connect to the bliss body.

Participants will come away from this 30-hour training module with an understanding of the fundamental principles and concepts behind a restorative yoga practice and be able to design and facilitate a restorative yoga session. Other healing modalities will be discussed, such as sound, smell, mantra, mindfulness, and trataka meditation during a restorative practice.

Facilitator, Eileen Lynch, has guided hundreds of restorative yoga practices and is passionate about bringing this practice to teachers and students of yoga. Participants will be asked to design a 45-minute practice on the last day of instruction.
